This is a Work-in-Progress and will be updated later.
Well this is a huge change! If you didn't already know, I've been in the process of redesigning every single one of my original characters to make them more realistic, as most of them are very unrealistic, bright colors. My fursona has been purple since I first designed her in 2007 and I've been meaning to redesign her. Now, I finally have!
Here is Ellone's "new" reference sheet, though, oddly, I've never made her one before. She is a red fox based on the color mutation "red platinum" sometimes referred to as "gold platinum" (if the fox has more of a light tint) or "calico." This color is only found in ranched foxes and is a step further than a "red whitemark" fox, which does not have the full white collar around the neck. I've been really getting into fox breeding and the technicalities of coats lately, so I could ramble on about this subject for quite a while...This passion now shows in Ellone's more realistic coat. Of course, she still has some flair of originality.
If you would like to draw fan art, feel free! I love all fan art!
That is a very pretty sona you have there! I've never heard of red fox variations, and them being real makes it all the more better! I particularly love her fluffy white neck fur and her little spots. You also have a really nice layout! I'm terrible at reference sheets.
Aww, thank you! I just recently heard of red fox variations, and have become very interested in them. Because of that, I decided to redesign my fursona. It was hard to choose which beautiful variation I wanted to use! I still feel like I'm uncertain if I chose the best one, but I'm very indecisive!
I actually just started making my own reference sheets recently. For years, I just didn't have any or would use a free template. It's hard to get a layout I like! This one's still a work-in-progress...I want to add a pose of her sitting with her back to the viewer and another with her front to the viewer, but I won't have time to do that until Summer...but for now, this is an acceptable sheet.
Oh, wow! It's great to hear from an artist I look up to and respect! I love your work...
Anyways, I had been toying with Ellone's design for a while, trying so many things and it was the white around the legs that finally brought it together to a design I love.
